Graphic Advocacy for Gifted Kids

I came across a stunning awareness campaign by the inspiring people in the Purpose Education movement recently. They select quotes from people writing within their movement, add them to images with Creative Commons licenses, and share them, always CC licensed for re-use, via Flickr. They have some fabulous work in their image pool.

Being me, I immediately thought, “We can do that!”, so last night I set up a new Flickr group for gifted awareness. I’d love as many people as possible to join, and create attractive CC licensed images with pithy thoughts and quotations for others to utilise in advocacy. The group is less than 24 hours old, and has five images already. I’m hoping we can have at least ten by the beginning of Gifted Awareness Week, and many more by 9 August which is the inaugural World Gifted & Talented Awareness Day. Collaboration can be great! A friend from Future Problem Solving New Zealand tweeted some remarkable snippets from a book on education written in 1893. A complete stranger put an interesting CC licensed image on Flickr. All I’ve had to do is find and combine!

Can you join our campaign and make similar images? We'd love you to!
